Recycling Facilities Like all other areas of Britain our Landfill sites are increasingly expensive to use. It costs about £45 per tone to bury our waste. On average each household creates at least 2 tonnes of landfill waste each year. As if this isn’t bad enough no new sites are available so the cash and environmental costs of waste are spiralling upwards. Burying waste is not the only option, each household can do their bit by using recycling systems whenever possible. If we don’t do more we will inevitably pay more.

Parish Newsletter cont. Village ‘Artmarker’ Scheme The Village “Artmarker” is a national scheme to integrate more art into local communities and is supported by Herefordshire Council and others to exhibit and enjoy art closer to homes, work and public spaces. Just as we were planning this newsletter, we received the welcome news that Brockhampton Parish Councils’ request to participate in this new scheme has been successful. Brockhampton will receive funding to support, select and commission artwork from nominated artists to enhance our area. At a number of Parish council meetings residents and councillors have voiced their concerns over speeding traffic and we have been considering ways of alerting drivers when they enter the village and persuade them to slow down without resorting to urban signs and speed traps. One possible solution discussed by the parish council has been to use the Artmarker scheme to... |
create something that marks the entry to the village and encourages drivers to slow down. Broadband for Brockhampton In our last newsletter it seemed as though the How Caple exchange was unlikely to be converted in the foreseeable future. The good news is that Broadband is coming! The How Caple exchange is to be converted by the end of February 2006. Contact your service provider to arrange installation.
Road Repairs
Those of
you who drive along Ladyridge will hopefully have noticed the recent road
repairs; the Parish Council has worked successfully with Herefordshire
Council to achieve this. |
