On Sunday the 11th of July, Mr. Jeremy Clay kindly gave his permission for a group of Brockhampton parishioners to go course fishing on the Wye below Capler Camp.

The day arrived and ten of us met at the Parish Hall car park full of hope and tackle at the ready! We then proceeded down to the river where we chose our pitches, appraised the conditions...the river was very low and another warm day was in the offing... and then the fishing began.

After a slow start, there were a few catches reported of dace and  roach caught by the Teague family and an eel by Keith Morris, who was trying for a barbel! At midday the bites were few and far between, but later in the afternoon the activity increased with a nice chub caught and then a fine barbel made its way onto Peter Niblett's hook. We were due to finish at 6:30 pm and most of the party packed their rods away, having spent a most enjoyable day fishing under quite challenging conditions.  Click on any Picture

Keith thanked all present for supporting the event and in return was thanked for organising the day. It was generally hoped that this event would be repeated with perhaps more Brockhampton and Much Fawley anglers dusting off their rods.

As Keith and Rob Taylor had had a fairly quiet day, they decided to carry on for a while longer. This proved to be a good decision as Keith caught another eel and a chub, but Rob was rewarded with the second good-sized barbel of the day. All in all, a perfect day's fishing in a perfect location.

Thanks also must go to Marion Laws for her help in designing a flier for the event and John Hudson for his time and assistance with organising the day.

Parish Plan

The Parish Plan identified several areas of interest for the future of the village.

Better use of the Village Hall came high on the list. With that in mind, one of the steering groups are organising a couple of events.
